Boss Andy Sinton is urging AFC Telford fans to put club before country this weekend – by skipping the big international between Wales and England.

The Euro 2012 qualifier at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday clashes with the Bucks’ Blue Square Bet North clash at home to Stalybridge Celtic, both games kicking off at 3pm.

And Sinton is urging Telford fans to resist the temptation to stay at home and watch on television, calling on them to help their club in its bid for promotion.

“I didn’t even think about England-Wales, it doesn’t interest me,” said Sinton.

“You might get a few people watching it, but hopefully they’ll stick with us because we are going to need them over the next five or six home games.

“We need them so my message to them is to come and watch your local side and come and help us get to where want to be.”

Sinton has been delighted by the backing his side have received this season and nearly 1,700 turned out for the 2-2 draw with Eastwood — one of their highest midweek crowds of the season.

Now he is keen to see them turn out in ever increasing numbers as the Bucks try to hold on to top spot in the table and seal promotion to the highest tier of non-League football.

“The crowd were terrific on Tuesday. I could sense a little bit of frustration at times but they can be a 12th man and they can make a real difference,” said the Telford chief.

“If they get behind us they can play their part in getting us over the line.”
