Worcester’s Kevin O’Connor looks forward to AFC Telford clash

Worcester City’s Kevin O’Connor is relishing a meeting with former employers AFC Telford United in tomorrow’s Blue Square Bet North derby.
Irishman O’Connor spent last season at the New Bucks Head before opting to move to The Royals last summer.
And he is expecting a mixed response from the travelling Telford fans.
He said: “Hopefully I’ll get a better reaction this time than I did earlier in the season at Telford. I was booed off the pitch there but that’s what fans are like.
“I got the impression that the fans liked me when I was at Telford, but they weren’t do happy when I chose to move to Worcester.
“It was a tough decision for me to move because I enjoyed playing for Telford and it’s a good club. I just knew a couple of the lads down at Worcester so chose to come here.
“I would think they would like me less if I scored tomorrow but I will be trying. It’s a game I’m looking forward to.”
And the midfielder believes his new side can spring a surprise against the title-chasing Bucks at St Georges Lane having shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
He added: “It wasn’t a game where I though we were lucky to get a draw. We could have won it.
“I haven’t seen anyone in this league who is much better than us.
“We are where we are through our own fault more than anything else. We have drawn games we could have won and lost games we could have drawn.”
And the 25-year-old, who was forced to end his professional career at Wolves due to a hamstring injury, admits he doesn’t know too much about the new-look Telford.
He added: “I’m not really in touch with any of the players there but I know a few of them from last season but they have brought quite a few new players in as well – they seem to have quite a big squad.
“Telford have done really well this season and are right up there but we still think we can beat them.”
