AFC Telford United extended their unbeaten league run to seven games with a home victory over Blue Square Bet North strugglers Gainsborough Trinity.

The Bucks got off to a dream start when their former player Gavin Cowan inadvertently turned Adam Proudlock’s cross into his own net inside two minutes.

The hosts looked to be running away with it whenAndy Brown got on the end of a Jon Adams pass on 25 minutes and lashed in for his fourth goal in five games.

But Gainsborough got a lifeline on 31 minutes when Cowan managed to score at the right end, nodding in unmarked off Neil Spafford’s free-kick.

Brown also hit the post while Phil Trainer went close but Telford were less convincing in the second half and were happy to hold on for the win.
