Andy Sinton urges AFC Telford to keep moving
Tuesday 1st March 2011, 12:56PM GMT.
Boss Andy Sinton has challenged AFC Telford United to rise to the big game occasion again tonight.
The Bucks play host to play-off chasing Droylsden at the New Bucks Head as they look to follow up last Tuesday’s sensational 2-1 win over title favourites Alfreton.
And the Telford chief is eager for a repeat display, having seen his side’s progress held up by a waterlogged pitch at the New Bucks Head, which forced Saturday’s scheduled clash with Corby to be postponed.
“The records show that we get it right for the big games, we get the players up,” declared Sinton, whose team is unbeaten against all of the main promotion contenders.
“But we have to do it week after week, including tonight.
“To be fair, we’ve only lost two in 25 – and in one of those we were down to 10 men after 20 minutes or so (against Solihull) and the other was after a long journey to Blyth.
“Already we’ve got two points more than the whole of last season and we’ve still got 15 games to go so that shows how far we’ve come.”
Goalkeeper Aaron McCarey is set for his second appearance since signing on loan from Wolves, with Ryan Young still serving a four-game suspension.
Sinton must also decide whether to recall fit-again top scorer Adam Proudlock, who socred twice in the 4-2 win at Droylsden earlier in the season.
Meanwhile, Droylsden could hand debuts to two new signings tonight.
Boss Dave Pace yesterday swooped for experienced striker Lee McEvilly from Burscough while centre-back Paul Jones has joined on loan from Barrow.
The Bloods may also involve experienced full-back Sam Stockley, who registered with Telford earlier in the season but then opted for a move further north.
Stockley spent weeks training with Telford but headed to America for trials.
