Returning players give Bucks bosses food for thought

AFC Telford United assistant boss Darren Read admits the Bucks management have been given food for thought by their returning loan stars, writes ALEX JAMES.

Richard Davies and Will Richards are both back in the fold at the New Bucks Head after spells with Chasetown and Market Drayton respectively.

And Read believes both can now make an impact at Telford.

He said: “It’s good to have Richard back. He is very much part of our set-up and has benefitted from getting some regular game time.

“He’s come from an Academy set-up at Walsall but the loan has meant he is able to play ‘man’s football.’

“Chasetown want him back but it might be that he stays with us.

“Will played on Tuesday night in our friendly against Eccleshall and did very well at centre half. It might be that he plays in that position a bit more often because I thought he was excellent.

“There is no doubt that he is a big strong player but he just lacks that little bit of experience at the moment.

“It’s clear that he could easily slot in at centre half.”

Meanwhile, defender Stuart Whitehead is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Boston with a knee injury.

Read added: “He is in a little bit of pain but it’s nothing too serious – we will see how he is before the game because we only want players who are 100 per cent fit to play. We have Liam Murray who can slot in.”
