Bucks seal deal on Hereford’s Sam Gwynne

Boss Andy Sinton has moved to improve AFC Telford United’s quality on the ball by sealing a loan deal for Hereford midfielder Sam Gwynne.
The 23-year-old has agreed a deal that will keep him at the New Bucks Head until the end of the season.
Telford officials completed the paperwork just before last night’s 1-0 win at Workington – and he could go straight into the side to face Darlington in the last 16 of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
“Sam hasn’t really featured much for Hereford this season but he’s got League experience,” said Sinton, who is also close to adding an experienced striker to his squad.
“He comes hungry because he’s not really sure what’s going to happen at the end of the season.
“I know all about him – I actually tried to get him at the start of the season but Hereford decided to keep him. He’ll be a body but there are no guarantees of a place in the team.
“He’s energetic, he puts his foot in and he can look after the ball as well – and as last night showed, that’s an area we need to improve in.”
Meanwhile, Telford forward James Lawrie has been named in the Northern Ireland under-21s squad to play Wales next Wednesday.
Lawrie, who has two senior caps, could miss Telford’s scheduled game with Droylsden on Tuesday as a result — though that game could now be postponed.
Droylsden have had one player called up to the England C squad and have been informed they can request a postponement as a result.
“I’m led to believe that, unless we have a replay against Darlington in the Trophy, we won’t have a game next week,” Sinton said.
“We had a situation earlier in the season where Sean Newton was away but we still had to play so I’d just like to know why this isn’t offered to every club. It seems very strange.”
