In-demand captain Shane Killock today gave AFC Telford United a major boost, insisting: “I’m very happy here.”

Bucks boss Andy Sinton revealed last week that Colchester United were tracking the 21-year-old centre-back.

And Blue Square Premier side Luton Town are the latest to be linked on the last day of the January transfer window.

But Killock, who joined Telford from Oxford in 2009, said: “I’ve not heard about anything happening. I haven’t spoken to any clubs.

“I’m very happy at Telford. I’ve been made captain which is a great honour and the manager has shown a lot of faith in me.

“It’s great for the club if people are looking at our players but all I can do is see where it takes us.”

Killock, who started his career at Huddersfield, admits that the lure of League football is difficult to ignore.

“Every footballer wants to play at the highest level possible,” he added, “and I want to play in the Football League, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.

“But I’m still young. I’ve just signed a new contract at Telford and I’m just looking to play as well as I can.

“Here you are part of a winning team every week and I think I’m at the right club at the right time.

“It’s the best club outside the League. The fans are fantastic, we’ve got a great ground and the set up is brilliant. But you don’t become a League club overnight and we’ve got to work hard to make sure we do it.”

Meanwhile, Telford were left frustrated on Saturday as their trip to Hyde fell victim to a frozen pitch after a 9.30am inspection.

It leaves them with another midweek match to pack into an already crowded fixture list – with a re-arranged trip to Workington next up tomorrow.
