AFC Telford’s Andy Sinton: What we have we hold

Boss Andy Sinton expects his AFC Telford United squad to be intact at the close of the January transfer window – despite interest in his players.

Sinton admits to receiving “tentative” enquiries from higher-ranked clubs, but has yet to receive any offers.

And, with his most saleable assets contracted to the club, he expects his Blue Square Bet North promotion-chasing line-up to stay together.

“I had a couple of tentative enquiries two or three weeks ago for a couple of players but there’s been nothing concrete yet,” said Sinton, who is aware that scouts have been flocking to the New Bucks Head of late.

“They are all contracted so if anyone does want them they would have to come up with an offer. I’m very confident we will be going beyond the window with what we’ve got – and hopefully we can add one or two.”

Meanwhile, Telford left-back Sean Newton has been put on stand-by for the England C squad for their International Trophy semi-final fixture with Belgium at Luton on Wednesday, February 9.

Telford are scheduled to play host to Droylsden the night before that game but Newton would miss out if he is called into the England ranks.

* The Bucks are down to fifth in the table after Boston jumped above them with a 1-0 win at home to Redditch last night.

But there was better news for Telford elsewhere, with league leaders Nuneaton falling to a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Hyde – the side Sinton’s men will travel to face on Saturday.
