Andy Sinton plays down importance of clash
Saturday 1st January 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
AFC Telford United make the short Bank Holiday Monday trip to Nuneaton with manager Andy Sinton insisting the game is not a six-pointer.
Both sides are among the pacesetters at the top of the Blue Square North but Sinton is not subscribing to the big game scenario.
“I keep saying they’re all must wins,” he said, “But as for it being a six pointer and all that rubbish — you only get three points for a win no matter who you are playing.
“If we beat them it gives us three points and takes us three points further ahead of them towards what we hope will be an overall total to get us out of this League.
“The end of the season is what counts.”
And Sinton, whose side host Stafford Rangers today, insists that his side will face a far tougher test than the one that saw the Bucks run out 4-1 winners over the same opposition in August.
He said: “They’re a very good side. We played them earlier in the season and although we won 4-1 we had to work very hard to get on top of them and we played very well that day.
“I thought at the start of the season that they would be in and around the play-off places and I’ve not seen anything to change my mind.
“I know it’s an old cliche but we will have to take each game as it comes and just look to keep accumulating points.”
