The county men now lead the standings by eight points, albeit with second-placed Milton Keynes having two games in hand.

It was Sheffield who scored the opening goal on just two minutes thanks to Greg Wood's powerplay strike. Telford survived a string of further Sheffield powerplays and got their reward with two minutes of the session left. Corey McEwen was on target for the visitors with a fine close-range strike after a pass from Jason Silverthorn.

The second period saw Telford take

advantage of a short-handed Steeldogs to snatch the lead at the halfway point of the game.

Defenceman Sam Zajac was on hand to squeeze the puck inside the near post of Sheffield's James Hadfield.

But the hosts hit back four minutes later as Liam Kirk scored with a shot high into the net.

Telford went back ahead on 47 minutes thanks to a fine effort from Adam Jones. The young defenceman took advantage of a crowded goalmouth to send a high shot past Hadfield.

Sheffield, however, hit back with five minutes remaining thanks to a strike from Arnoldas Bosas.

The Tigers were back in the lead just moments later, though, when Corey McEwen scored after a pass from Matty Davies.

And Rick Plant sealed victory for Telford with a powerplay goal on 58 minutes, before Milan Kolena rounded off the scoring.
