All-Star Lashings side set to make Oswestry visit

A star-studded line-up will step out at Oswestry next summer in one of the biggest cricketing events the county has witnessed.

The Lashings All-Stars side, which in the past has included world greats like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar, will will take on Oswestry at Morda Road in a T20 game on Thursday, August 31.

The likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Courtney Walsh, Desmond Haynes, Gordon Greenidge, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ryan Sidebottom, Rob Key, Monty Panesar, Darren Sammy and Nick Compton all turned out for the Kent-based club during the summer, with the team skippered by former England leg-spinner Chris Schofield,

To add further sparkle to proceedings, the match commentator will be Test Match Special legend Henry Blofeld.

"It's a great coup to bring Lashings to Morda Road and everyone at the club is really excited about it," said Oswestry secretary Chris Wiseman, the man who has done all the hard work in setting up the game.

Before the game, which starts at 4pm, the stars will be coaching youngsters before attending a lunch with 250 cricket fans.

The Lashings game will be the Oswestry club's biggest fundraiser of the year and they are looking for a match sponsor.
