Larry Chambers wants positive Telford reaction

Assistant boss Larry Chambers has urged AFC Telford United to bounce back after suffering three defeats in a row.

The Bucks lost 2-1 at Worcester City on Saturday leaving them 16th in the Vanarama National League North table on 18 points.

Chambers, who felt Telford were the better team in their away fixture, questioned the players' finishing which boss Rob Smith had criticised last week.

Chambers said: "We need to see a reaction. We have lost three on the bounce

"I just think we don't take our chances. I think Bradley Reid looked lively and he had a couple of chances. I just don't think we take our chances.Whether it was set-pieces, whether it was balls that come from the wide areas or one-on-ones with the keeper, our finishing is just not good."

"Whether it is a lack of confidence, or a belief, for me our finishing just isn't good. You watch us in training and everything goes in the top corner."

The Bucks have been boosted by the signings of defender Joe Kearns and midfielder Joe Fitzpatrick. Kearns, aged 20, who started for Telford against Worcester, has signed on a one-month loan from National League side Southport.

Ex-Worcester City midfielder Fitzpatrick, 19, who came on as a substitute against his old club, has signed until the end of the season.

But Chambers revealed that midfielder Sean Williams has left the club due to work commitments.

He said: "Sean Williams is a talented footballer. He has done well while he has been at the club.

"But I think his workload over the last two to three months has increased dramatically and he has found the travelling hard.

"He has mentioned a couple of times he was looking for an opportunity to play for a club closer to home. Warrington, I think, is on his doorstep. While myself and Rob didn't want him to go, he made his decision to go so you don't stand in someone's way really."

Telford's next game sees them host high-flying Darlington 1883, who are second in the league with 37 points.

"It will be a difficult game," he said. "Maybe that is the game we start taking our chances and one (goal) goes in for us early and we are not chasing them."

Telford 's home league clash with Brackley, which was due to take place tomorrow, has been rescheduled for December 13 due to the visitors' FA Cup commitments.
