Annabel Foulger, Rose Manger, Elizabeth King, Virginia Price-Owen and Beth Grech came first in the women's E four coxed event, beating crews from Australia and the United States.

Foulger and Manger paired up and were victorious in the women's E two coxless event.

In the women's F two coxless event, King and Price-Owen came third and the team, partnered with Grosvenor Rowing Club in Chester, managed to finish in the same position in the mixed E eight coxed event.

The team, which has been triumphant at the British Rowing Masters Regatta three times in a row, were desperate for international success.

Manger, aged 58, has been rowing for 18 years and said: "We have worked for three years to try and get international success. It has been a huge joint effort from everyone involved.

"People shouldn't feel they are too old to get involved with rowing, there are some great clubs around Shropshire."

Nathan Williams, who coaches the group at Pengwern Boat Club, added: "They have all achieved an awful lot.

"They work so hard. It is great what they have managed at the World Rowing Masters Regatta."
