The former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper was yesterday greeted by cheering fans when he flew into Turin for a medical ahead of the move from Manchester City.

Hart has now returned to England's St George's training camp in Burton.

The 29-year-old was confirmed as a Torino player today, with the Italian club expected to pay around £55,000 a week of his salary and City providing the rest of his £130,000 wage.

Hart told the Serie A side's website, torinofc.it: "Suddenly my career has taken a turn. It was a sign.

"Torino's offer came in the right moment, in the right manner. I am very excited to test myself in an important and beautiful league such as Serie A."

Hart had been at City 10 years and been at the centre of all their success in recent seasons, including the Premier League title wins of 2012 and 2014.

Hart becomes the first English goalkeeper to play in Serie A.

Yesterday he emerged from the club's Stadio Olimpico Grande HQ to find more than 100 supporters calling his name as he posed for photographs with scarves and a club shirt bearing his name.

Hart was given permission to leave England's training base, where he was preparing for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Slovakia, to resolve his club future.

Joe Hart gives a thumbs-up to Torino fans

Hart, who has fallen to third choice at City behind new signing Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero, has won two Premier League titles at City and been their first choice for most of the past six years but new manager Pep Guardiola has made clear his preference for a keeper who is better with his feet.

The Italian move could help safeguard his England place.

Hart has chosen Torino ahead of reported interest from Sunderland. Everton and Sevilla last week distanced themselves from reports linking them with the former Shrewsbury keeper.
