The Rhino Velo RT rider powered to victory in 20minutes 28 seconds, knocking four seconds off the previous record set by Ryan Morley earlier in the year.

Vickers improved by 11 seconds on his quickest time on the course as he headed 46-strong field. Josh Williams came home in second place in 20:51.

Third place was hard fought with Andrew Campbell of Wrecsam Tri crossing the line one second ahead of fourth-placed Stuart Proctor of Paramount CRT (22:43).

Simon Harrison of Mid Shropshire Wheelers was another three seconds back in fifth place.

Two more riders to record season bests were Simon Lewis (Oswestry Peloton), who took sixth in 23:15, and overall serie leader Neil Coles, who was also fastest Paragon rider in 23;42 as he came home seventh.

David Scott of Rhino Velo RT was the quickest rider on a road bike, rather than the more aerodynamic time trial machines, finishing eighth in 23:45 on his first ride on the course.

Tying for ninth place were Andrew Howell of Oswestry Peloton and another newcomer, Andy Raho of Gog Tri, who both finished in 24:08.

There was another good turnout of juniors with seven taking part, with 13-year-old Ben Pierce fastest of the group in a time of 25:55.

Ryan Greaves (26:22) was the next best with Jack Young (28:02) completing the juniors' top three.

Three ladies took part with Wrecsam Tri's Lisa Morley quickest in 27:31, ahead of Mid Shropshire Wheelers junior Kate Pugh (29:51).

From August 5, the start time moves forward to 7pm for the last three events.
