Pontesbury-born midfielder Dave Edwards jumped into the crowd after the country's 3-0 win over Russia in Toulouse on Monday night to celebrate with friends Mitchell Gough and Gary Preston, who also live in the county.

Edwards, who plays for Wolves, is involved in setting up a new business, Q Financial Services, with the two men who joined in the Welsh celebrations.

Wales will play in the last 16 in Paris tomorrow against either Albania, Turkey or Northern Ireland, but the 30-year-old former Shrewsbury Town player is relishing the challenge.

"We've watched all the games and we don't fear anyone; we look at where we have finished and it takes some of the big hitters out," he said.

"Our aim was always to get out of the group and anything above that would be a bonus."

Edwards's belief is fuelled by his conviction that, in three-goal Gareth Bale, Wales have the best player in the tournament.

"I genuinely think we have the best player in Gareth Bale and one of the best in Aaron Ramsey, so we have nothing to fear," he said.
