The side included four debutants in skipper Darel Poole, Bethan Ellis, Nyah Edwards and Zoe Griffiths.

They were also kitted out in their new coloured clothing provided by Fearnley Cricket. Poole won the toss and put the visitors into bat at Quatt.

Some tight bowling from Ashleigh Heath and Nyah Edwards was rewarded when Katherine Mills was caught by wicketkeeper Megan Felstead off Nyah for two.

Shropshire picked up their second wicket when Lucy Arnold ran out the other opener, Elizabeth Bools, with the score on 21.

The bowlers kept up the pressure picking up wickets at regular intervals as Rosie Pembrooke (25) battled to hold the Wiltshire innings together.

Bethan Ellis bagged up 2-10 from her seven overs, Zoe Griffiths 1-16 from her 10 overs, skipper Poole 2-17 from five overs.

Heath picked up two late wickets and a run out when she returned for a second spell as the visitors were dismissed for 91 off 41 overs.

In reply, Robyn Matthews got the county off to a fast start with four boundaries off 19 balls before she was out lbw to Pippa Brown.

Lara Jones and Milly Home then ensured there would be no wobbles with a 38-run partnership for the second wicket before Jones was run out for 20.

Home (24 not out) and Poole then saw Shropshire home to victory.

Cricket development officer Ian Gregory said: "It was a great result in testing conditions.

"The bowlers didn't let Wiltshire get going, we picked up two run outs in the field and the batters made sure there were no scares in the chase."

The team are next in action on on May 29 against Cornwall at Launceston Cricket Club.
