Nick Hudson hits out at plans for Birmingham Cricket League restructure

Worfield skipper Nick Hudson insists he is against proposals to axe Division Three from the Birmingham Cricket League.

The suggestion is due to be discussed on Monday as bosses look to shake-up the playing structure. Chiefs want to cut travelling time for teams and improve the quality of games.

But Hudson, whose Worfield side are in Division Three along with Whitchurch, is opposed to the idea.

"It's not going to cut travelling as you could still end up going to Coventry or Brockhampton," he said.

"Cricket's becoming more of a business, it's not like the club game that it used to be. I would vote against it, 100 per cent."

If the new proposal is implemented, the winners from the feeder divisions in Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire would be involved in play-offs to decide which two are promoted to Birmingham League Division Two.

And Hudson feels this would be unfair.

"If you play good cricket all year and win your league, to have a 50/50 chance that you won't then end up getting promoted is harsh," he added
