Peter Clark leads the way with all-round display

Captain Peter Clark set the perfect example as Shropshire Under-13s completed an impressive cross-border raid.

Clark fired his side to victory over NE Wales at Gwersyllt CC with a superb all-round display.

After opting to bat first, NE Wales were sitting pretty on 70-0 but were then left reeling as Clark took centre stage.

The skipper triggered a match-defining collapse as he bagged excellent figures of 6-24 from his allotted nine overs.

Joe Smallman offered solid support with the ball as NE Wales crumbled to 138 all out.

In reply, Shropshire showed positive intent from the start as they eased to victory in 27 overs.

Clark impressed with the bat to finish 40 not out while Luke Goring made 33 and Ross Hurdley18 as Shropshire won by five wickets.

Shropshire Under-17s were forced to dig in to avoid an outright defeat in their clash at Buckinghamshire.

Shropshire won the toss and batted but were soon in trouble at 4-2.

A fine innings of 62 by Jack Furnival, with support from Harry Adair (21),Toby Jones (25) and Harry Chandler (20) helped rebuild the innings as the visitors finally dismissed for 175.

An excellent spell of bowling by Jack Garmson (5-54) reduced Bucks to 143-5 but the tail wagged and they finished on 300-8d giving them a win on first innings.

Shropshire then batted to avoid an outright loss and a solid performance saw reach the close of play on 156-4 with Adair 51 not out and Dan Vaughan making 47.

Shhorpshire Under-17s girls tasted defeat in their clash with Warwickshire at Portland Road.

Lara Jones (3-52) and Courtney Cooper (2-22) impressed with the ball to help dismiss Warwickshire for 151.

But Shropshire's batting failed to fire as they were bowled out for 126 in reply. Cooper capped a fine game by top-scoring with 39 while Meg Felstead hit 26.

An extremely depleted Under-15 side, who were missing no less than six key players, crashed to a heavy defeat against Staffordshire at Milford Hall CC.

Staffs piled up 214-2, with Under-11 Emily Churms picking up 1-32, before Shropshire were rolled for 69 in reply.

There was no joy for the Under-13 side either against Lancashire at Alberbury.

Some fine bowling from Nyah Edwards (3-9) helped restrict Lancashire to 168-6 but Shropshire fell for 72 in reply, Amelie Davies top-scoring with 21.
