Watch: Done it again! Tigers win first-ever double

Tonight's 5-2 victory saw The Tigers extend their 3-1 lead from the first leg, in front of a over 1,200 supporters at Telford Ice Rink.

The county men are now favourites to clinch that grand slam in the play-offs, having secured their first-ever double of English Premier League honours.

But it was a tough start for Telford last night, who fell behind to two early Manchester goals in the first two minutes.

A physical first period ended with the Tigers 2-1 down, as they struggled to break down a determined visiting forward line.

Their only strike of that period came in the fifth minute from Peter Szabo.

The second session produced three unanswered goals for the English Premier League champions, thanks to Max Birbraer, Szabo and Blaho Novak.

And it was Novak who rounded off the scoring with a fine effort in the final period.

Tigers Head Coach, Tom Watkins, said: The guys showed some great character tonight and battled so hard to win this.

"They put in a massive effort and it was a great game to watch.

"Manchester are a quality team with some good players, so I am really pleased with our performance tonight.

"To do this in front of a big home crowd, who showed such passion and were just fantastic. I am really proud of them all."

The Tigers will now regroup for Sunday's visit of Guildford Flames, before facing Sheffield Steeldogs next weekend with a place in the play-off finals up for grabs.

Watkins added: "Manchester made a great game of it and it was a good one to watch. The atmosphere in here was incredible tonight and I am sure they all enjoyed it."

Earlier this month the Tigers were celebrating being crowned English Premier Division champions for the first time in over 20 years.
