Telford Tigers made a swift return to winning ways with an 8-2 win over Sheffield Steeldogs last night.

Saturday evening saw Telford lose their ten-game winning streak with a shock 4-0 defeat at Swindon Wildcats.

But last night's game at Telford Ice Rink saw the county men score within 80 seconds of the start, thanks to Joe Miller.

Peter Szabo doubled that advantage on three minutes, before Scott McKenzie added another six minutes later.

The Steeldogs chalked up their first goal just after the halfway point of the period, but Jason Silverthorn restored The Tigers' advantage.

Further goals from Rick Plant and Szabo – alongside a second for Sheffield – gave The Tigers a 6-2 lead at the second interval.

And it was Plant and Szabo who struck again in the third period to give Telford an 8-2 victory. On Saturday evening, goals in both the first and second periods were enough to end The Tigers' winning run.

Last night's result, meanwhile, alongside a loss for second-placed Basingstoke, means Telford remain six points clear at the top of the English Premier League.
