The 26-year-old Welshman finished third at the Dubai Challenge Tour grand final at Al Badia to guarantee his first European Tour in his maiden season on the Challenge Tour. Two rounds of three under par, plus one of one under and one over saw Farr finish third on six under.

Hereford-based Farr climbed three places in the Challenge Tour rankings to finish 10th overall with earnings of 101,476 euros, with the top 15 qualifying.

"It's probably earlier than I expected but that's even better because it shows that what I've been working on is right and that I'm ready to play the world's best golfers," said Farr.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet but to say I'm a European Tour golfer is pretty cool.

"I've been brought up watching Wentworth so to think I'm going to be playing there is awesome."

Farr remained calm despite entering the season finale still needing a strong finish to secure his place.

He added: "Saturday was probably the most nervous I've been on a golf course, walking to the first tee, but I kept myself pretty chilled even though my head was all over the place and I played some really nice golf. I knew if I finished third I would get into the top 10 so to do that was really nice.

"I've been working towards the European Tour for the last six or seven years – even as an amateur I was always setting goal."

Benjamin Hebert won the event for his sixth career European Challenge Tour title, finishing five clear of compatriot Jérôme Lando Casanova on 12 under par.
