Confident Connor's gunning for Chelsea

Connor Goldson has warned Chelsea's all-stars that Shrewsbury are full of confidence for tomorrow night's Capital One Cup clash following four straight wins.

The stand-in skipper registered his second goal in as many games in the 2-1 win over Portsmouth on Saturday, even if it did come in fortunate circumstances after the defender mis-hit a looping cross.

Shrewsbury jumped up to fourth in the League Two table. They are three points behind leaders Luton.

Goldson feels Saturday's victory was the perfect preparation for the arrival of Jose Mourinho and his team of world class players tomorrow night.

He said: "This is what football is all about. We are bringing the best team in Britain here and they are coming with probably the best manager in the world.

"But we go into it on the back of four wins on the bounce and it's a tie that the whole team and the whole town are looking forward too.

"We will have a full house here. That's the biggest thing for us. We will have a full house supporting us and we cannot wait.

"It's absolutely great that we are going into the game on the back of four straight wins. We can just go into it, relax and enjoy our football."

Portsmouth arrived at the Greenhous Meadow intent to stifle Town, with boss Andy Awford later admitting they would have settled for a point.

Goldson said: "I think that shows just how well we have been playing. Portsmouth are amongst the promotion favourites but they have come here and sat back and shown us so much respect.

"They played for a draw but that just shows how well we're doing.

"It was a great win, three victories in a week, so we are delighted."
