The 22-year-old, who was a notable absentee from last Sunday's live TV game against Newtown, was involved in an altercation according to TNS, which has left the current Welsh Premier young player of the year hospitalised.

It is a serious blow for player and club as Finley has been in terrific from this season, with his four goals helping to fire TNS to the top of the league.

"The club are currently in contact with the police and are awaiting further details after Sam was viciously attacked in Liverpool last weekend," said a statement from Park Hall.

Finley spent three seasons at Warrington Town after originally being loaned by Southport. He moved to TNS in January 2012, and his performances have brought interest from English professional clubs.
