TNS fans facing 50-mile home trip

Football fans hoping to cheer on Oswestry's Welsh Premier champions in the home tie of their Champions League game will have to travel 50 miles to do so.

The New Saints will play the home leg of their second qualifying round tie against SK Slovan Bratislava on July 15 at the Corbett Stadium in Rhyl – an hour's drive from Oswestry.

They are unable to use their home ground at Park Hall as it does not have enough seats, while Wrexham's Glyndwr University Racecourse, which TNS have used for previous European matches, is having its pitch re-laid over the summer.

Club manager Craig Harrison said: "It could have been worse – if we'd been drawn against a bigger club like Celtic or Legia Warsaw then we'd have had to have travelled to Llanelli or another ground."
