Shropshire golfer Oliver Farr off to solid start at Matchroom Championship

Shropshire golf professional Oliver Farr was today aiming to improve on a solid start to the Matchroom Championship at the Belfry.

Farr, from Ludlow, finished yesterday's first round tied 86th in the 156-strong field after round one of the competition, which is part of the EuroPro Tour.

He scored a four over par 76 in which two early birdies on the third and fourth hole were countered by two bogeys and two double bogies later on. Round Two was being played today.

Royal Dublin's Niall Kearney and Scotland's Kris Nicol were tied first.
