Chris Hutchings joins staff at Market Drayton Town

Former Bradford, Wigan and Walsall boss Chris Hutchings has been appointed to the new management team at Market Drayton Town.

Hutchings, 56, who also spent time as caretaker boss at Ipswich before Mick McCarthy's arrival, will serve as assistant to the little-known Lee Ebden at Greenfields.

The 29-year-old is a former Rhyl and Kidderminster Harriers striker, who has worked most recently as a football consulant, but he will fill the vacancy left by the short-lived stay of Dave Richards.

Ebden drew the curtain on his playing career in 2008 at Kidderminster after a series of injuries and has since worked with more than 130 clubs across Europe.

The appointments come after the surprise departure of Richards, who has since returned to former West Midlands Regional Premier outfit Shawbury.

The new team will take charge for the first time tonight in the Shropshire Senior Cup home clash with the New Saints, kicking off at 7.45pm.
