Jaymie Haycocks bows out of squash championships
Thursday 9th February 2012, 7:00AM GMT.
Shropshire interest in the British national squash championships ended as Jaymie Haycocks bowed out to world No.1 Nick Matthew.
Haycocks, of Telford, won the first set of the second-round clash at the National Squash Centre but went out 9-11 11-5 11-7 11-4.
“I thought I played well, especially in the first,” said the 28-year-old. “But then he stepped it up a bit and was a lot more clinical when I gave him anything loose.
“I opened up the court a bit too much and wasn’t as patient as I’d been in the early part of the match and as soon as he got confident it became very tough.”
