Jubilant captain Ed Foster today set his sights on more glory for his super Shrewsbury side after a famous National Knockout triumph.

Foster and his side have enjoyed a weekend of celebrations after a thrilling three-wicket final over triumph over Cambridge Granta in Saturday’s final at Derby.

And with the age range of the youthful side spreading from 15 to 26, Foster is convinced more success is around the corner for a side that also won the Birmingham League premier division last season.

“You can do things once but you want to do it over and over again,” said Foster, whose unbeaten 98 earned him the man of the match award.

“I would like to think we can try and win this again over the next few years.

“Old Hill won it quite a lot in a period in the 1980s and 1990s and if we could do something similar that would be brilliant.

“It’s a massive achievement and fitting for these players because they are a good side.

“Our biggest issue is likely to be with people having the chance to go and play First Class cricket but hopefully we can keep the side together.”

Shrewsbury followed their victory on Saturday with a night of celebrations which eventually ended at around 3am.

Immediately after the victory, they returned to the club’s London Road headquarters where more than 100 players, officials, members and supporters packed into the clubhouse to mark Shrewsbury’s second National Knockout success, some 28 years on fron the first.

The squad then continued their celebrations at night spots in Shrewsbury.

“It was a fantastic end to a great day,” added Foster.

“It was brilliant to see so many people at the club and the support we had there and throughout the day was fantastic.

“We have had a lot of messages from clubs around Shropshire and from people in the Midlands, elsewhere in the country and a few from lads in Australia who have links with the club which have all been appreciated,” said Foster.
