England call up for Shropshire golf star Ashley Chesters

Shropshire golfer Ashley Chesters was today jetting off for his first ever senior England appearance.
The 21-year-old from Hawkstone Park has been named in the three-man team to represent England in the Czech International Amateur Championship.
Chesters, who was capped for his country at under 16 and 18 level, has been rewarded for reaching the matchplay stages of both the British and English Amateur Championships.
“It’s a big honour and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Chesters, before flying out of Heathrow this morning.
“It was a bit of a surprise to get the call up but hopefully I can make the most of it now.”
Chesters will be joined by Hertfordshire duo Stuart Phillips and Matthew Wallace at Golf and Spa Kuneticka Hora for the 72 hole event.
l Shropshire & Herefordshire are celebrating their first Midland League victories of the season. The first team defeated Derbyshire 9.5-5.5 at Shifnal while there was an away success for the seconds, 8-7 at Ashbourne.
