Shrewsbury in quarter finals of cricket’s National Knockout
Monday 18th July 2011, 12:09PM BST.
Shrewsbury stormed into the quarter-finals of cricket’s National Knockout.
The London Road men beat the rain to thump Lancashire visitors Prestwich by 10 wickets yesterday.
Prestwich were skittled for just 61 inside 28 overs, Joe Leach taking 4-21, Ed Barnard 3-14 and his brother Mike 2-5.
Shrewsbury then raced to their target inside eight overs without loss to secure the victory.
“We played in a bit of rain but credit to the umpires for carrying on because the alternatives – a bowl out or them coming back next week – weren’t really satisfactory,” said captain Ed Foster.
Shrewsbury must wait to learn their quarter-final opponents as the game involving Walmley and Ormskirk was abandoned.
