Cricketers chasing quarter-final ticket

Shrewsbury’s cricketers have a place in the quarter finals of the National Knockout in their sights tomorrow.

They tackle Lancashire side Prestwich in a 45-overs-per-side encounter at London Road (1pm).

The 1983 champions reached the semi-finals two years ago and are hoping that experience can drive them on tomorrow.

“Having been there before will be a benefit for us,” said captain Ed Foster. “If we win tomorrow we are in the quarter-finals and then anything can happen so it’s an exciting stage of the competition.”

Shrewsbury make one change from the side due to face Himley today with ineligible overseas player Paul Donaldson replaced by Ed Barnard.
