Foster’s champs go North
Saturday 7th May 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Captain Ed Foster will demand no let up from his Shropshire side as they continue their defence of the Minor Counties one-day cricket trophy tomorrow.
Shropshire play their second of four round-robin qualifying matches in the MCCA Trophy when they make the long trip to Northumberland.
Shropshire got their campaign off to a flying start with a three-wicket triumph over Staffordshire at Oswestry last week.
But Foster has played down any suggestions that victory last weekend eases the pressure at Jesmond tomorrow.
“There is still the same pressure because we still needed to win,” said Foster.
“It was a good result last week but we can’t take anything for granted and Northumberland are a strong side in the one-day game.
“People might think I’m being a hard task-master but we really want to defend this trophy and get to a Lord’s final and win it so we have to keep winning games.”
Shrewsbury allrounder Joe Leach is likely to be welcomed back into the side, leaving Foster and his fellow selectors with a dilemma over who to leave out from last week’s victorious team.
