Warning of big changes after TNS miss Welsh Premier title
Wednesday 4th May 2011, 4:13PM BST.
The New Saints’ managing director Mike Harris has warned of summer changes after the Oswestry club missed out on their sixth Welsh Premier title, writes JOHN BRIDGWATER.
The 1-0 loss at Bangor City means the full-timers had to settle for second spot, and a place in the Europa Leaguie,
But Harris was disappointed after missing out on another chance to play in the Champions League, and hinted at bringing in younger players from the club’s Academy for the future.
“There will be massive changes for next season,” he said.
“Bangor played better than us in every single quarter of the pitch, this was a cup final and we just didn’t turn up.
“There are a few players here who need to prove themselves and show that they are worthy of the green and white shirt. Performances like that don’t merit contracts.”
There is certain to be a budget cut in the coming weeks as a consequence of the Saints missing out on the Champions League.
