Shropshire’s Neptune Collanges set for Scottish Grand National
Tuesday 12th April 2011, 11:31AM BST.
Shropshire’s star chaser Neptune Collonges will go for Scottish Grand National glory.
Neptune Collonges, owned by Cosford businessman John Hales, will carry top weight in the Ayr marathon on Saturday.
The 10-year-old, trained by Paul Nicholls finished eighth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
Meanwhile, Champion Hurdle runner-up Peddlers Cross – owned by Telford’s Tim Leslie – is set to go chasing next season.
Peddlers Cross finished seventh in Saturday’s Aintree Hurdle and Grand National winning trainer Donald McCain is now ready to send his star over the bigger obstacles.
“I haven’t schooled him yet but there is a strong possibility he will be jumping fences now,” said McCain.
