Shropshire v Leicestershire in LV County Championships
Monday 11th April 2011, 11:20AM BST.
Adam Shantry edged an all-Shropshire duel on the opening weekend of the First Class cricket season, writes JAMES GARRISON.
The 28-year-old Shrewsbury-born left arm seamer was making his first Glamorgan appearance since missing virtually the whole of last season with knee problems.
And, one of his two scalps in the LV County Championship clash at Leicestershire was former Shrewsbury School pupil and future England hopeful James Taylor who he dismissed for 14 in the home side’s second innings.
Taylor made 45 in his side’s first innings while Shantry – whose Glamorgan team were today chasing 328 for victory – has match figures of 2-69 from 25 overs.
Shrewsbury wicketkeeper Ryan Bishop made 35 for Cardiff’s university team in a friendly against a Somerset side which included former England star Marcus Trescothick.
- The Marston’s Shropshire Premier League stage their pre-season meeting for captains at Reman Services tonight (7.30pm).
