Furious Wem Town are considering withdrawing from one of the showpiece occasions of the Shropshire football season.
The West Midlands League division one outfit are due to take on red hot favourites Market Drayton in the final of the Shropshire Challenge Cup.
But Wem boss Dave Richards is livid that his side found out just 48 hours ago that the Greenhous Meadow final will take place on Monday. The club will stage a committee meeting tomorrow night to discuss their next course of action.
Meanwhile, a date has been conffirmed for the Shropshire Senior Cup final, with Shrewsbury facing Drayton on Wednesday, April 27.

Is this due to our wise and educated lot than run the shropshire fa. When are they going to realise that there is more one football team in Shropshire !!

Feel really sorry for Wem. Reach their first final in this competition and rightly deserve a good night out. Yet, the date is dumped onto them at short notice to accomodate decisions in other cups.
Part of the fun of the final is the build up and preparing, plus drumming up support etc.
Would not blame them for taking a stand.

Who are the people at the Shropshire FA making these moronic decisions??
Why have they demanded that these finals have to be played in April – a time when all of the Shropshire sides already have a lot of fixtures anyway.
Clearly none of the teams are going to risk first teamers – why would they?? – and as a result no one will be going as its a needless game, so attendances and gate receipts will be down.
Who does any of this benefit??
Why on earth do these games HAVE to be in April????

Just get on with it and stop moaning. Priviledge to play in the Shropshire Challenge Cup final. Its the same for both teams.
