Shrewsbury Town return with sights on Cheltenham
Friday 10th December 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town are hoping to dust off the rust and make up for lost time when they resume their League Two promotion charge tomorrow.
Some 18 days have passed since Town were last in action with a convincing 4-0 derby victory over near neighbours Hereford.
That frustrating wait will end tomorrow with the rise in temperatures over the last 24 hours meaning no problems are expected for tomorrow’s home clash with Cheltenham.
But on-loan central defender Exodus Geohaghon will miss out after he returned to Peterborough for treatment on a knee injury.
Midfielder Craig Disley is also set to miss out with a hip problem while the frustration could go on for Andrew Tutte.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who signed on loan from Manchester City on deadline day two weeks ago and is still waiting for Town to play their first game since his arrival, is a doubt with a back problem.
Town were five matches unbeaten in the League before their enforced winter break following the romp over Hereford at the Greenhous Meadow.
And boss Graham Turner is hoping the break hasn’t halted his side’s momentum.
“We have had the highs of the Hereford game and having the break since because of being knocked out of the FA Cup and then the weather has been unfortunate,” said the Town boss.
“You never quite know how you are going to come back but the players have shown a very good attitude to training.
“They have worked very hard over the last two weeks and have looked enthusiastic and bright and you just hope we can carry that into the Cheltenham game.”
Tomorrow’s visitors have made a fine start to the campaign and lie just one place and two points outside the play-off places.
