Temitope Obadeyi is Christmas gift to Shrewsbury Town
Thursday 25th November 2010, 12:56PM GMT.
Pacy forward Temitope Obadeyi will remain part of Shrewsbury Town’s promotion push over the Christmas period.
Obadeyi’s initial one-month loan from Bolton expired after Tuesday’s 4-0 victory over Hereford at the Greenhous Meadow.
But Town boss Graham Turner has reached an agreement with Owen Coyle, his counterpart at the Reebok Stadium, for the deal to be extended until January 8.
Obadeyi has made five starts and one substitute appearance for Town, playing as a striker and winger, and caught the eye with a fine midweek display in the League Two derby win over the Bulls.
“Tope has done well since joining us and has been a great addition to the squad,” said Turner.
“He’s been asked to play in a couple of different roles and brings a little more quality into our squad.”
Meanwhile, Turner has until 5pm tonight to bolster his squad before the loan window closes until January.
“Anybody we bring in to the club has to be clearly better than what we have got,” stressed Turner.
“With the size of the squad we have got there is no point bringing in more squad players.
“If we do any business, we need to bring someone in that can improve the first XI – and that is a difficult task.
“There are not too many players who would be allowed out on loan who would do that for us.”
Town ran out 4-1 winners in a behind-closed doors friendly against visiting Wrexham yesterday in a game arranged to give fringe players game time.
Lewis Neal, Steve Leslie, David Raven – on his comeback from injury – and Benjamin van den Broek were on target.
