Shropshire based equestrian ace Oliver Townend has already earmarked one event for next year – a short trip over the border in to Cheshire.
Badminton and Burghley winner Townend, who trains at Ellesmere, will take part in the Bolesworth Showjumping Classic from June 9-12.
The event is held at Bolewsorth Castle off the A41 between Whitchurch and Chester.
Last year, 18,000 spectators watched some of the world’s top showjumping and event riders compete for a prize fund of nearly £60,000, with Nick Skelton winning the Aquashield Grand Prix and Anthony Condon the Liverpool Volkswagen Eventers’ Grand Prix.
Townend said: “The Bolesworth Showjumping Classic is a highlight of the summer.
“The event attracts some of the best riders in the business and the setting in the grounds of Bolesworth Castle is absolutely stunning.
“Bolesworth also has something extra – brilliant family entertainment and a friendly atmosphere.”
The Bolesworth Showjumping Classic, heading into its fourth year, is the brainchild of 30-year-old Nina Barbour who now helps to the run the estate following the death of her father three years ago.
