Man Utd visit sees ticket rush

AFC Telford United are expecting a bumper gate for Monday night’s Wolves reserve clash at the New Bucks Head (7pm), with Manchester United coming to town.

Club chiefs are anticipating almost 2,000 people for the game and have already sold out of hospitality spaces amid record-breaking interest.

And the club are also advising supporters to arrive early in a bid to avoid likely crowd congestion.

Telford chairman Lee Carter said: “We had just short of 1,000 in for Chelsea and we’re anticipating a crowd of between 1,500 — 1,800 for Man United on Monday.

“We already have 200 people booked in upstairs and although we do regularly sell out hospitality for Telford matches this is the first time we have ever done that for a Wolves game.

“It’s just a shame that Wayne Rooney has gone to the US to recover from this injury.”

The likes of Michael Carrick, Gary Neville and Bebe have all featured for United’s second string this season, though with the Manchester derby coming up on Wednesday it remains to be seen how many first-team players will feature at the New Bucks Head.

Admission to the game is £4 for adults and £1 concessions. Wolves season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge and gates will open at 6pm.

Meanwhile, the Bucks have been rebuffed in their efforts to reduce ticket prices for their home FA Trophy clash with Corby Town later this month.

Telford had hoped to drop admission prices for the tie on November 20, but Corby rejected the plan and the FA backed the Northamptonshire visitors.

Carter added: “We wanted to lower prices, it’s something we have always done.

“We find that attracting crowds for these sorts of ties at this stage in the competition is often difficult. But Corby didn’t want to do that and the FA have agreed with them so we just have to get on with it.”

As a result tickets will be charged at £11 for adults, £8 for concessions and £1 for under 16s.

If the tie is drawn the replay will be on Wednesday, November 24 at the Rockingham Triangle. Admission prices will be £10 for adults, £6 for concessions and £2 for under 16s.
