Jake Robinson fronts up for a lone Shrews role

Hot-shot Jake Robinson has vowed to take confidence from being asked to play as a lone striker by Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner.
The 24-year-old led the frontline on his own in Tuesday’s vital 2-1 away victory at Crewe, with fellow forward Matt Harrold having to settle for a place on the bench in a tactical reshuffle.
And, while the nine-goal leading scorer has not played that role often in his short career, he was delighted boss Graham Turner placed faith in him.
“It was a very different role for me but it was pleasing how the manager and staff showed faith in me to perform that role because I guess a lot of people wouldn’t have expected it,” said Robinson.
“But I went out there to work as hard as I possibly could to try and hold the ball up when I could and bring other people into the game.
“It’s not my natural game but it was fantastic they showed enough confidence in me to believe I could do that.”
Town were today taking a break from their push for promotion as they went on FA Cup duty at League One side Southampton.
But Robinson believes Mark Wright’s last gasp winner at Gresty Road can prove crucial in the weeks to come.
“Even at this stage of the season, it could prove to be a big goal,” he added.
“Our away form hasn’t been good but that was a big boost for us and we have to build on it now.”
