Jake Robinson talks ahead of Shrews v Southampton
Friday 5th November 2010, 7:00PM GMT.
Striker Jake Robinson insists last season’s embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Staines will be his chief motivation for helping Shrewsbury Town to a giant-killing of their own tomorrow.
Leading scorer Robinson is one of the survivors of last season’s shocking 1-0 home defeat in the first round to the Blue Square South side.
And the 24-year-old is confident Town can make the headlines for the right reasons tomorrow, when £18,000 is up for grabs for the winners in prize money.
“That was a very poor memory of last season – so disappointing and one of the low points,” admitted Robinson.
“The boot is on the other foot this weekend – we are going to Southampton as the underdogs and looking to cause an upset.
“This season we are two out of two against League One teams and going down there with a lot of confidence.”
Robinson, meanwhile, insists he will be happy to retain penalty duties tomorrow – despite missing from the spot in the 2-1 victory at Crewe on Tuesday.
“I would be more than happy to take another one,” he added.
“I took the penalty with full confidence – I just didn’t take it particularly well.”
