Shrewsbury Town relief over Tom Bradshaw
Thursday 28th October 2010, 4:00PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town were today breathing a sigh of relief with the news that young striking star Tom Bradshaw is expected to be sidelined for a maximum of three weeks.
Bradshaw was stretchered off with an ankle injury in the closing stages of Wales under-19s 1-1 draw with Kazakhstan in Bridgend on Monday night.
An X-ray followed amid fears that the youngster could have suffered a fracture.
But a positive bulletin emerged from the Greenhous Meadow today with news that Bradshaw has been diagnosed with an ankle strain and is expected to be sidelined for just two or three weeks.
Bradshaw, who at 18 has already struck four times for the first team, including finding the target at Wycombe this season, will now be targetting a mid-November return to action.
Meanwhile, winger Mark Wright has hinted that he would be keen to extend his spell at Shrewsbury.
The 28-year-old has joined an initial loan from Bristol Rovers which runs until January.
And although Wright refused to contemplate what the future holds, he said: “I’m loving my time here.
“I’m really enjoying my football and that’s the first time for a while because I couldn’t say that last season.
“But I’m just concentrating on my football and we will speak about what is going to happen next when it comes around.”
Wright remains confident Shrewsbury can re-stamp their authority on the promotion race after a run of just one victory in the last six League Two matches.
“It’s still early days and we are there or thereabouts,” said the former Walsall man. “Chesterfield showed last week they are a good team but we proved we can be up there and challenging.
“We just need to start picking up points and grinding out games again.
“The gap is a bit bigger now but I’m sure we can put a run together.”
