Shrewsbury Town take on Bolton’s Temitope Obadeyi
Friday 22nd October 2010, 1:03PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town today raided the Premier League to take Bolton attacker Temitope Obadeyi on a month’s loan ahead of tomorrow’s big League Two clash at Chesterfield.
The deal was finalised before training this morning and the 20-year-old is available for the trip to face the leaders.
Obadeyi made three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Bolton at the end of 2008 and start of 2009 against Wigan, Manchester United and Arsenal.
The former England under-19 international gained experience of lower League football last season, spending the first three months with Swindon before joining Rochdale for their run-in to the League Two title.
“He is a powerful lad who has been recommended by my north west scout,” said Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner.
“He can play up front or wide left and we have been aware of him for a while.
“I’m told he is quicker than Lionel Ainsworth and if there’s one thing defenders at this level hate it’s pace.”
Obadeyi’s arrival comes as Shrewsbury wait to see whether two of their key early season performers win their race against time to be fit for tomorrow.
Full back David Raven is struggling with a groin problem while four-goal forward Matt Harrold has a hip injury.
Winger Lewis Neal has been troubled throughout the week by a calf problem.
Doubts over Raven’s participation have prompted Turner to recall right-back Dean Holden prematurely from his loan spell from Rotherham.
Meanwhile, the Town boss is looking forward to his side having the chance to pit their wits against the side currently leading the way in League Two.
“On what we have seen and the reports we have had, Chesterfield are playing well,” added Turner.
“During the course of the season you get some defining games and this might be one of them.”
Tomorrow will see Shrewsbury make their first ever trip to Chesterfield’s new B2Net Stadium.
