Shrewsbury Town 2 Lincoln 0
Saturday 16th October 2010, 5:03PM BST.
Two goals in three first half minutes gave Shrewsbury Town a vital first victory in six attempts.
Strikes from Jake Robinson and Mark Wright ensured Graham Turner’s side saw off the determined challenge of lowly Lincoln.
It was the visitors who started off the brighter and they could have taken the lead when Josh O’Keefe headed against the post.
But it was Town who got the all important opening goal on 39 minutes when Wright fired home from 15 yards after a cross from Robinson had been half cleared.
And Shrewsbury doubled their lead moments later when a raking crossfield ball from Lionel Ainsworth picked out Robinson who drilled home from 20 yards, although Lincoln goalkeeper Joe Anyon should have done better.
Both sides had chances in the second period, Wright going closest when he clipped the bar.
