Turner hopes to break Shrews’ winless streak

Manager Graham Turner has urged Shrewsbury Town’s first team wannabes to grasp their chance to impress tonight.
Town’s reserves make the trip to Turf Moor where they are in action against Burnley in a totesport League encounter (7pm).
Amongst those looking to catch the eye are wide duo Steve Leslie and Lewis Neal and strikers Benjamin van den Broek and Tom Bradshaw.
And Turner is hoping for food for thought ahead of Saturday’s visit of Lincoln City, when Town will be looking to arrest a five-game winless streak.
“It should be an interesting game to watch and people have a good chance to put in a strong performance,” said Turner.
“It’s a game on a good ground against the reserves from a Championship side.
“Burnley have made a number of players available for loan who will be playing so it should be a strong side we are up against.”
The Town team travelling to Turf Moor also includes two un-named trialists.
Turner’s options for the weekend look set to be enhanced with defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff expected to recover from the dead leg which ruled him out of the games at Bury and Morecambe.
He is due to return to full training on Thursday while it is hoped midfielder Craig Disley will be fully fit after minor ankle and foot problems meant he had to settle for a place on the bench at Morecambe.
Turner will remain on the hunt for potential loan signings, and said today: “Despite the recent hiccups, I’m not unhappy with the squad.
“Four of the last five games have been away from home.
“We will keep looking and if we feel we can improve things we will do — that is a manager’s job.”
