Telford Titans conceded a mammoth 31 goals in just two games over the weekend - but despite having just one fit netminder, club bosses are refusing to hit the panic button.

Youngster Ben Hunt was forced out of Saturday's ENL 1 clash with Trafford Metros after suffering an early groin injury, leaving skipper Mike Roden to take his place in goal.

And even though Roden performed admirably, the hosts still ran out 17-3 winners, with Telford's goals coming from Ryan Stanton (2) and Dan Harrison.

Sunday evening's match at Nottingham Lions was a similar affair, with Telford losing 14-2, despite the presence of reserve netminder Dan Barlow.

Team Manager Jen Roden said her players realised a win was unrealistic as soon as Hunt was forced off the ice.

Nasty

She said: "They just decided to go out and enjoy it. Trafford had 41 shots on goal and Mike only let in 13, so it is not too bad.

"They just enjoyed the game, as it could have been a bit nasty.

"We were given the option of giving up the game 5-0, but they had people there and we didn't want to let anyone down.

"We went to Nottingham thinking we didn't have Ben (he tried to play but couldn't) and Dan Barlow is not that experienced."

Ryan Stanton was once again on the mark during Sunday's game, giving him a haul of five goals and two assists over the last three games.

Roden added: "I think Ryan is really enjoying his hockey at the moment and just wants to keep playing.

"He is playing better and liking it."

Netminder Hunt is expected to return for next Saturday's visit of Trafford Metros, although moves are afoot to bring in another netminder.

"There is another netminder from the under-18s who can come up," Roden said.

"He didn't train last week, but we will be in touch and see if we can use him. A netminder is the only player you can borrow."
