Sean McAllister back for Shrewsbury Town v Bury
Tuesday 5th October 2010, 1:03PM BST.
Midlfield maestro Sean McAllister is set to return to the Shrewsbury Town squad for tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy trip to Bury — but Shane Cansdell-Sherriff is a doubt.
McAllister is back in contention for the second round trip to Gigg Lane as Town aim to build on their impressive victory over League One Oldham at the first stage by moving a step closer to Wembley.
The former Sheffield Wednesday man suffered a hamstring injury at Wycombe last week, but has made a quick recovery.
Central defender Cansdell-Sherriff, however, could miss out with a groin injury, while boss Graham Turner is also contemplating freshening up his starting line-up after Saturday’s draw with Torquay.
“We treat the competition with a high amount of respect and we want to progress,” said Turner.
“At the same time, we have one or two senior players that have not figured recently and are waiting for a chance.
“There might be two or three changes just to freshen things up and give us a boost but we want to go there and win the game.
“Once you get past this round you are looking at area quarter-finals and you are getting that bit closer to Wembley.
Flying
“So it’s a big game for us in many respects.”
Turner admitted the second round tie won’t be easy for Town, with Bury also flying high in League Two.
And the Shrewsbury boss is seeking an improvement on Saturday’s display against Torquay.
“Alan Knill (Bury boss) has done a good job since he joined them,” added Turner.
“They are always well organised and work hard and it’s another difficult game.
“But it’s about what we do and if we play at the right tempo, stick to the organisation and the game plan then we have a good chance of winning the game.”
The game will go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
