Boss Graham Turner has urged Shrewsbury Town to take advantage of winless Gillingham’s slow start to the season in tomorrow’s repeat of the 2009 play-off final.

While Town have yet to taste defeat in League Two this season, Gillingham are still searching for their first victory of the campaign.

The two teams famously met at Wembley some 18 months ago with Gillingham earning promotion courtesy of a last minute winner.

But the Kent side were relegated from League One last term and have made a sluggish opening to the new campaign, a factor Turner is hoping his side can capitalise on in tomorrow’s trip.

“At Hereford we experienced coming straight back down from League One after getting promoted and there is a big jump in standards between the two divisions,” said Turner, who was edged out by Torquay’s Paul Buckle for the August League Two manager of the month award.

“It didn’t surprise me they found life tough in League One.

“I expected, and I think the bookmakers did, for them to be amongst the front runners this season.

“They have got some decent players there and it’s early days.

“But the one thing we will find tomorrow is, when you get to five matches in the League season and you have not won a game, you are under immense pressure.

“We have to try and make the most of that and make it count in terms of controlling the game, and giving the crowd nothing to get behind them for.

“If we can do that, maybe it is a per cent or two towards getting the right result.”

Turner is looking for more of the same from his side.

“We just have to keep our own form going,” he added.

“We will give the players an outline of what we expect Gillingham to do but the big concern is the way we play.

“It is a matter of consistency for us.”

Shrewsbury make the long journey south with no fresh injury problems.

Goalkeeper Ben Smith returns from a groin problem and is expected to replace youngster Hakan Duyan on the bench for the long trip
